25-year old man in Australian capital caught drink-driving twice

CANBERRA, ACT, Australia – A 25-year-old Canberra man has been charged with drink driving twice on the same day.

The man from suburban Gilmore, in the Australian capital of Canberra, was also found to be driving without a license.

He is currently in the ACT Watch House.

The saga began around 3:10am Sunday morning when police who were were conducting mobile patrols in Weston, stopped a Holden Commodore with the 25-year at the wheel.

The driver underwent a breath screening test which was positive. He was taken into custody and taken to Woden Police Station for breath analysis. The result of the analysis was 0.189 grams of alcohol per 210 litres of breath.

The driver was served with an immediate suspension notice, suspending his right to drive for 90 days.

He was released from custody and left the Woden Police Station as the passenger of a rideshare vehicle.

About 4.50am Sunday morning, police sighted the Holden Commodore from the earlier incident. Oficers attempted to stop the driver, however he drove away at high speed. About 5.20am, police located the Holden Commodore travelling in Gilmore where the vehicle came to a stop and the driver fled on foot. His vehicle was seized.

About 6.10am Sunday morning, police called at the man’s him in Gilmore. He subsequently provided a sample of his breath for analysis and the result of the analysis was 0.159 grams of alcohol per 210 litres of breath.

He was taken to the ACT Watch House where he is awaiting a raft of charges.
