31-year old man accused of murdering man, 74, in Central West

CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – A 31-year old man appeared in a Central West court on Thursday charged with murder.

The man was arrested late Wednesday night following the discovery of a body in Parkes in the state’s Central West.

Officers from the Central West Police District were called to a home on Best Street in Parkes around 4:00pm Wednesday, following reports about concern for a man, aged 74, who lived there.

On arriving at the home police found the man’s body. They then established a crime scene.

Following inquiries, the 31-year-old man was arrested at a neighbouring house in Best Street about 11:00pm Wednesday night. He was taken to Parkes Police Station where he was charged with murder.

The man was refused bail ahead of his court appearance, at Dubbo Local Court, on Thursday.
