4 arrests after girl tossed off bridge at Windsor

WINDSOR, Western Sydney, Australia – Details are emerging of the shocking abduction and attempted murder of a 19-year old girl in the region’s neighbourhood.

Windsor, where the girl’s ordeal came to an end, is just 26 kilometres northeast of Springwood, and 63 kilometres east of Lithgow.

The drama came to the attention of police around 6:00am on Sunday when the young girl, who only has one arm, raised the alarm. She had been abducted by a group of people in Campbelltown on Saturday night and taken to a home in Whalan, in the Blacktown LGA. There she was allegedly tortiured for more than eight hours. Several times she was hit with a bat. She was then taken from Campbelltown to Windsor, locked in the boot of a car.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, the girl was allegedly thrown by the group from the bridge at Windsor into the Hawkesbury River.

Despite her disability, she was able to swim to the riverbank in George Street, Windsor, and police were alerted.

She was taken to Nepean Hospital for treatment.

An intensive investigation since has seen four people arrested, the latest being a 16-year old boy who was taken into custody on Thursday morning after being arrested at Wallacia. He was formally charged at Windsor Police Station with attempted murder, detain in company with intent to get advantage occasioning actual bodily harm, aggravated robbery, and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He was refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Friday.

Officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command first arrested a 19-year-old woman after she attended Windsor Police Station on Tuesday.

Just after 2:00pm on Wednesday, a 17-year-old girl attended Windsor Police Station where she too was arrested.

The pair were charged with attempted murder, aggravated kidnapping, wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and robbery with wounding.

Then at 8:45pm on Wednesday night, a 22-year-old man attended Windsor Police Station where he was arrested. He was charged with attempted murder, detain for advantage in company, aggravated robbery and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
