46-year old man in critical condition after being hit twice by vehicles on Great Western Highway

A man is in critical condition in Westmead Hospital after he was hit twice by separate vehicles as he ran across the Great Western Highway at Springwood.

The incident, which occurred around six o’clock on Friday night caused a car crash.

The man, 46, sustained multiple injuries and was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition.

Police said the man was hit by a Nissan X-Trail as he was running across the Great Western Highway.

He was then struck by a Hyundai Veloster, which caused a Ford Ranger to crash into the back of the Hyundai.

The driver of the Nissan, a 51-year-old man, the 20-year-old male driver of the Hyundai and the driver of the Ford, a 43-year-old man were uninjured and taken to Nepean Hospital for mandatory blood and alcohol testing.

Officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command are investigating the circumstances of the night’s events.
