LITHGOW, Central West, NSW, Australia – A 68-year old woman was rushed to Lithgow Hospital from a home on Clarice Street, Lithgow with a serious neck injury on Thursday afternoon.

Soon after she was airlifted to Westmead Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Following inquiries by officers from the Chifley Police District a 56-year old man known to the woman was arrested and taken to Lithgow Police station for questioning. Hde was subsequenly charged with attempted murder and wound with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and was scheduled to appear at Lithgow Local Court on Friday.
