BLACKHEATH, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – A man has died after his 4WD crashed on a property in the Blue Mountains on Tuesday.

About 5:00pm Tuesday, emergency services were called to a property on Cullenbenbong Road in the Kanimbla Valley near Blackheath after the body of a man was located.

Ambulance Paramedics and Police traveled across rough terrain, tracks, and a river crossing before arriving at the site. They believe the man may possibly have died several hours before his body was discovered.

Police have been told concerned friends attended the property to check on the welfare of the occupant and located a 72-year-old man deceased in rugged bushland, approximately 150m from where his 4WD had rolled down a steep embankment.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District established a crime scene and an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway. The Lithgow Volunteer Rescue Squad provided emergency lighting overnight at the location as the Police Accident Investigation Unit commenced their assessment.

According to a NSW Police statement initial inquiries suggest there are no suspicious circumstances.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
