‘A game changer for the Oberon Golf Club’ says club captain

May 30, 2019

OBERON, Central West, NSW, Australia – The most significant improvements made to course infrastructure in decades at the Oberon Golf Club have been compl;eted.

Club captain Barry Lang joined fellow officials and members showing Bathurst MP Paul Toole the transformation that has taken place in recent months.

The works have been completed thanks to backing from the NSW Government in the form of grants totalling $125,000.

This includes kilometres of underground irrigation and concrete cart paths, a brand new machinery shed, bitumen sealing of the club’s car park and sealing of key roads within the course proper.

“It’s been a game changer for the Oberon Golf Club,” Lang said Thursday. “It’s just incredible … unbelievable in fact. Everyone involved has done such a great job. From club members such as Mick English and Robert McGrath who ensured we got real bang for our buck from the funding and the contractors who did the car park and roads – we couldn’t fault anyone.”

“Without doubt this is the biggest transformation we’ve seen here for decades.”

Mr Toole said the improvements have taken the course to the next level. “There’s a control panel to monitor the watering system and even an optic cable running from the club to the new machinery shed, so it can be monitored from the clubhouse,” he said Thursday.

“It’s staggering to realise the extent of the works that have taken place. I think about 3700 square metres of seal and cart paths have been put in.”

“I congratulate everyone at the club for their efforts. Oberon Golf Club is such a picturesque course and has so much untapped potential to help lure visitors to the region.

“Hopefully they will stay for a round of golf and then explore further local attractions such as Mayfield Garden, Jenolan Caves, a spot of trout fishing, the National Parks, various local festivals and the Great Outdoors.”
