Arrest after sexual assault of two teenage girls in Katoomba

KATOOMBA, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – Blue Mountains police have made an arrest following the sexual assault of two young girls in Katoomba in the past few days.

A 67-year old man faced Penrith Local Court on Friday after being refused bail to face charges alleging the assaults.

Police say the latest incident occurred on Thursday when a 14-year old girl was sexually assaulted by a man around 1.35 in the afternoon as she was waiting for a friend at a business on Great Western Highway, in Katoomba. The man allegedly assaulted the girl and then left on foot.

Police were notified and shortly after their arrival they arrested a man nearby.

In the other incident, around 11.35am on Sunday police will allege the man sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl as she got off a train at Katoomba Railway Station.

The man arrested, who is 67 years old, was taken to Katoomba Police Station where he was charged in advance of his court appearance on Friday.
