Bookexplorers to host book launch in Lithgow

Mar 4, 2019

LITHGOW, Central West, NSW, Australia – The Lithgow Library will host the launch of the Bushexplorers new book ‘Wollemi National Park: Day walks from Newnes – Part 1’ later this month.

The event, to be held on Saturday 23 March 2019, will be attended by the authors.

The town of Newnes provides one of the most accessible entry points into the Wollemi National Park, part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. What sets this region apart is the unique geology, history, flora and remote pristine places. And yet it is located within a couple of hours drive from Sydney and a short trip from Lithgow.

The book is about the spectrum of walking opportunities around Newnes that can be accomplished in a day trip. It features spectacular lookouts, cliffs, rock formations, slots, passes, caves, overhangs, rainforest ravines, ledges and traverses, as well as a concise history of the Wolgan Valley.

“Newnes is a great place to access the fantastic Wollemi National Park and this new book will help to encourage visitors to explore some of the wonderful scenery in our local area and gain some knowledge of the history of Newnes,” Lithgow Mayor Ray Thompson said Monday.

With over 3,300 bushwalks behind them, Michael Keats, Brian Fox and Yuri Bolotin take readers on adventure after adventure exploring the hidden gems of the Wollemi National Park. The walks described in the book range from the very easy to the extreme.

Michael, Brian and Yuri will speak about their adventures during the event at the Lithgow Library and show photographs of some of the locations in the book. The launch will take place from 10:30am to 12 noon on Saturday 23 March 2019 and bookings are preferred by contacting Lithgow Library on 6352 9100.
