Central West woman violently assaulted in car-jacking

CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – A shocking attack has taken place in the New South Wales Central West.

A woman, aged 74, has been the subject of a vicious car-jacking, in which she was struck in the head from behind, had her Nissan car keys stolen, and then as the thief took her car, the driver reversed over the woman’s feet.

The attack took place on Tuesday in broad daylight, at about 2:00pm in a shopping centre car park on Bligh Street, Dubbo.

The elderly woman was loading goods she had bought into the boot of the car when she was approached.

Aftre being struck in the head from behind, the woman recovered to struggle with the man b ut she was pushed to the ground where she struck her head.

Despite other shoppers coming to her aid, the man was able to escape, after first rteversing over the woman’s feet.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended and treated the woman for head, leg and foort injuries before she was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attended and the Nissan was sighted on Hampton Street.

The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated; however, was terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.

Inquiries continue to locate the man who is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 175cm tall, of a medium build, with brown hair and brown eyes.
