Sep 24, 2018

Work has begun on the construction of Oberon’s new skate park.

Bathurst MP Paul Toole was joined by Oberon Mayor Kathy Sajowitz, and members of the local Youth Council for the event which will see the NSW Government fund the $500,000 project as part of round one of the Stronger Country Communities Fund.

Mr Toole said the Oberon Skate Park and Youth Precinct project involves the construction of a new 542 square metre in-ground bowl-style skate park at the Oberon Common.

He said the facility will cater for skaters of all ages and abilities and will include a beginner level quarter pipe, grind ledges and grind rails around the edges of an intermediate to advanced level bowl.

“The project also involves the landscaping around the skate park and the installation of street furniture, gable roof shelters and lighting which are all amenities needed to make the skate park a safe and comfortable recreation facility for skaters and spectators alike,” the Local Memberr said.

Oberon Mayor Kathy Sajowitz said the skate park was an initiative of the Oberon Youth Council which has actively participated in community consultation processes to design the project.

“The estimated total cost of the project is $529,000 with council receiving $500,000 from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund,” she said.
