Court appearance for driver over North Richmond collision in November

NORTH RICHMOND, Sydney, Australia – A shocking road traffic crash in November at North Richmond, midway between Sydney and Lithgow, has had a further twist with a woman appearing in court on Thursday.

The crash occurred about 4:30am on Saturday 9 November 2019 on the Bells Line of Road at North Richmond.

Two cars collided killing a 41-year old man, Steve Arnold, who was a passenger in one of the cars. He was killed instantly. He left behind a wife Roxanne, and two small children Charlotte and Cooper.

The drivers of both cars, a 22-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, were airlifted to Westmead Hospital with serious injuries.

In thr aftermath of the crash, the 40-year old woman was charged with a string of offences including dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning death, negligent driving, and not keeping to the left of the dividing line.

The woman appeared in Parramatta Local Court on Thursday however test results received following the initial charges have now established the woman was heavily under the influence of alcohol.

“Following results from tests taken after the collision, the 40-year-old woman will face further charges of aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death, aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and high-range PCA,” a statement from New South Wales Police said Thursday.
