Cricketers halt game to let chopper land

RICHMOND, Western Sydney, NSW, Australia – A cricket game at Panthers North Richmond had to be stopped on Saturday because of a medical emergency.

A nearby crash on the Bells Line of Road which involved multiple vehicles required the CareFlight helicopter, with its medical team on board, to land near to the crash.

The only viable landing area was the Panthers North Richmond ground where there was a local cricket fixture underway involving the Panthers-sponsored North Richmond Cricket team.

The game was halted while the helicopter landed, after which the medical team, on board were transported to the site of the crash scene, on the Bells Line of Road, east of the bridge.

Three people were injured in the crash and had to be hospitalised at Westmead. one of them, a 17-year old boy was described by paramedics as being in serious condition.
