Eight masked home invaders shoot man in Sydney home

SYDNEY, NSW, Australia – Eight masked men burst into a suburban Sydney home in the early hours of Monday monday, in what police say was a targeted attack.

The home, at Carnes Hill near Liverpool, in Sydney’s south-west was occupied by a 25-yera old man who was shot twice by the invadors.

The men then poured petrol throughout the home, but did not ignite it, before fleeing the scene in two vehicles.

The invasion occurred around 12:45am Tuesday morning.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated th 25-year-old man for a gunshot wound to the right leg. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

“Officers from Liverpool Police Area Command were informed that eight men wearing face coverings forced entry into the premises,” a NSW Police statement issued later Tuesday said.

“The men were confronted by the 25-year-old man, a resident of the home, before he was shot twice.”

“Petrol was then poured through the home but not ignited – before the men left the location in two separate vehicles,” the statement said.

“During the incident shotgun damage was sustained to a vehicle parked in the driveway of the home.”

“A crime scene has been established as investigations commence. The incident is believed to be targeted, the NS Police statement said.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have information about the matter, or was in the area at the time with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage to contact Liverpool Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
