Elderly Central West woman robbed of entire savings
Oct 1, 2019CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – An elderly Central West has been robbed of her entire life savings in a sophisticated computer scam.
Between Thursday and Sunday the woman, who lives in Dubbo, was preyed on by someone claiming to be the representative of a computer security organisation trusted to the woman. The woman took multiple calls from the person.
As a result of the phone calls, the person was allowed access to the woman’s computer under the precedent a software update would be conducted.
About 12:00pm on Sunday, the woman realised her bank account had been drained of all funds, at which time she contacted police.
Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District have commenced an investigation into the offence.
