Fourteen-year old boy arrested at home after Orange high school brawl

CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – A 14-year old boy has been charged after allegedly stabbing a student during a brawl at a high school in the state’s Central West on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to the high school in Orange following reports of a fight on Wednesday afternoon.

Upon arrival, officers from the Central West Police District deployed OC spray to disperse a number of fighting students, while NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 15-year-old boy for a puncture wound to his chest. The teenager was taken to Orange Health Service, where he underwent surgery for non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released from hospital. A crime scene was established and detectives commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, a 14-year-old boy was arrested at a home in Orange about 5pm on Thursday and taken to Orange Police Station.

He was charged with reckless wounding in company and granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Monday 31 August 2020. Detectives say inquiries are continuing.
