Hawkesbury police hunting man who tried to grab 4-year old boy

RICHMOND, NSW, Australia – Police are looking for a man who grabbed a four-year-old boy and tried to take him from his mother at a Hawkesbury shopping centre at the foot of the Blue Mountains on Friday.

Police were alerted that shortly after midday on Friday a man approached the boy and his mother in the carpark of the shopping 55-store shopping centre, and attempted to lift the boy up and away from his mother.

His mother yelled out and the man fled into the centre, which is located in March Street, Richmond.

The mother reported the incident to centre management who alerted police.

The man is described as aged in his late 50s, with a medium build, chubby face, clean shaven, short brown/grey curly hair, dark round eyes and large lips.

Officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command are appealing to anyone who might have witnessed or captured the incident on dashcam to contact them.
