Sep 29, 2020

CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – A youth who allegedly staged a home invasion in the state’s Central West last month, during which he threatened a 92-year old woman with a knife, has been charged.

If proven, it was an extraordinary and brazen attack on one of the region’s most elderly citizens in her own home. And extraordinarily it was carried out by a boy just 16 years old.

His haul was a small quantity of loose change and the woman’s debit card. For this he threatened the woman with a knife.

The attack took place on Monday 3 August 2020 around 1:15pm in the early afternoon in Dubbo. The woman was sitting on the verandah of her home on Crown Street, Dubbo, when she heard a noise coming from inside the house.

Police allege the woman was then confronted by the youth who threatened her with a knife, demanding cash.

On Thursday of last week officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District, who were investigating the incident, arrested the 16-year-old boy at a home in Wellington.

He was taken to Wellington Police Station where he was formally charged.

The youth was formerly refused bail at a Children’s Court last Friday and will reappear at a children’s court on Monday 12 October 2020.
