Man injured after falling from track in Leura bushland

Apr 10, 2019

LEURA, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – Late Tuesday afternoon bushwalkers in Leura Cascades heard cries for help.

The cries were coming from a 29-year old man who had fallen from a track into the bush.

Emergency services were called around 3:45pm Tuesday afternoon. Due to poor phone reception, and a lack of local knowledge by the caller, it took some time for emergency services to pinpoint the man's location.

Once the location was identified it took time for rescuers to reach the man because of the rugged terrain.

On arrival, Ambulance Special Operations Paramedics treated and stabilised the man before Police Rescue & NSWFR carried him out where he was taken to the Ambulance Rescue Helicopter and flown to Westmead Hospital.

He is reportedly in stable condition.

It was a busy day for emergency services in the Blue Mountains. Earlier in the day a tourist from New York was airlifted from the Megalong Valley after she was bitten by a snake. She also is recovering in Westmead Hospital.
