Man to front court on Monday over home invasion in September 2019

CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – A man who carried out a home invasion in a Central West city will face court on Monday.

The man, currently in custody in Bathurst, is charged over a serious incident which took place in Orange in September last year.

On Sunday 15 September 2019, a 61-year-old woman was asleep in her Leura Road, Orange home when she was woken by a noise. The woman was confronted by a man.

The man assaulted the woman and took cash and other personal possessions before he fled the scene.

Officers from Central West Police District attended and commenced an investigation with the assistance of Detectives and Crime Scene Officers.

On Wednesday of this week, a 37-year-old man was taken from a correctional facility to Bathurst Police Station.

He was charged with break, enter and steal in circumstances of aggravation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, robbery in circumstances of aggravation and intimidate with intent to cause fear of physical or mental harm.

He will remain in police custody in Bathurst until his court appearance in Orange Local Court on Monday.
