Jun 3, 2019

PARKES, Central West, NSW, Australia – A man appeared in Parkes Local Court on Monday on charges he defrauded a number of farms in the state’s Central West.

Police say the man sold and delivered hay to farmers in the Dubbo, Wellington, Yass Valley, Moulemein and Parkes areas.

The 34-year old man from Parkes was arrested in Dubbo in March. He first appeared at the Parkes court on 20 May and was remanded until Monday.

He has been charged with ten counts of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception.

The total amount of the fraud is alleged to be $86,000.

Police alleged in court that the man, operating a registered transport business, failed to deliver hay and grain and/or defrauded sub-contractors in the delivery of hay and grain, valued at more than $86,000, which had been purchased by farmers.

As investigations continue, anyone with information is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
