NSW RFS volunteer crews work to contain Lithgow bushfire

Dec 29, 2018

LITHGOW, Central West, NSW, Australia – NSW RFS volunteer crews worked tirelessly throughout the night to ensure the bushfire which broke out on Wednesday near Commonwealth Avenue in Lithgow remained contained, as scorching weather continues to grip the region.

Fresh crews were on site on Thursday continuing the hard work of a day earlier to extinguish all remaining flames.

Crews from Fire & Rescue NSW and NSW RFS, with assistance from water bombing aircraft, worked overtime on Wednesday to bring the bushfire under control. Fortunately the fire was burning away from properties in an easterly direction, and no major damage was reported.

With the fire danger continuing through Friday and probably beyond, nearby residents are being encouraged to remain aware of the fire situation and to review their bush fire survival plan.

Unattended fires should be reported to Triple Zero (000).
