Passenger train and car collide at crossing near Blayney

BLAYNEY, Central West, NSW, Australia – An XPT train has collided with a car near Blayney in the state’s Central West.

The crash occurred just before 12 noon on Sunday. The XPT passenger train was travelling towards Orange when it collided with the front of a Subaru station wagon at a level crossing on Greghamstown Road.

The driver of the Subaru, a 69-year old man, received lacerations to his legs and was suffering chest pains as a result of the collision.

He was taken to Orange Base Hospital for treatment.

None of the 122 passengers on the train were injured.

Police from the Chifley Police District are investigating the circumstances surround the crash.
