Police believe Central West fire Thursday night was deliberately lit

WELLINGTON, Central West, NSW, Australia – A man is in critical condition after a blazing fire destroyed a home in Wellington overnight.

An investigation has begun into the fire at the Glasson Street, Welliongton home which broke out about 5:00pm on Thursday night.

Police believe the fire was deliberately lit.

Shortly after 5pm Thursday, officers from Orana-Mid Western Police District were called to the home after reports a house was well alight.

Fire fighters attended and extinguished the blaze.

A 52-year-old man suffered serious burns. He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wellington District Hospital where he was later airlifted to Concord Hospital in critical condition.

A 46-year-old man was later located at another Wellington residence where he was also treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for treatment.

A crime scene was established.

As investigations continue, anyone with information about the incident is urged to come forward.
