KATOOMBA, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – Police on Tuesday launched a fresh appeal for information as investigations continue into the suspected murder of Belinda Peisley, 19, who has been missing from her Katoomba home, in the Blue Mountains, for more than twenty years.

Belionda was last seen in the Katoomba area on Saturday 26 September 1998.

Despite extensive investigations and numerous ground searches by local police and the Homicide Squad over the years, Belinda has not been located.

Detectives from the Homicide Squad continue to investigate Belinda’s disappearance – and suspected murder – under Strike Force Belonidae.

As part of ongoing inquiries, a forensic excavation and search was conducted at Belinda’s former home late last year, where forensic investigators from Crime Scene Services Branch located female clothing, including undergarments, buried under the house. Photographs of the clothing have been circulated on Tuesday.

“In particular, we are hoping someone may recognise the clothing and recall Belinda wearing them or being in her possession,” Homicide Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Scott Cook, said the clothes have been subjected to numerous forensic examinations, which have provided investigators with some further lines of inquiry.

“As we continue to explore these lines of inquiry, we are appealing to the community for information that may assist us in our pursuit of justice for Belinda and her loved ones,” Det Supt Cook said.

“We would also welcome any information relevant to her disappearance and suspected murder, or that may at least help us find Belinda and give her family some peace,” he added.
