Report: USMNT without a November opponent

Oct 23, 2020

Intent on getting back on the field in November, the United States Men’s National Team is having trouble nailing down a schedule for multiple friendlies after an option to meet Australia in a game at England fell through.

Yahoo Sports reported Thursday that the USMNT team was close to announcing a game against Australia but that will not happen now. Another option to face New Zealand also will not happen.

Like the USMNT, Australia was scheduled to hold a camp for its national team in Europe during the fall but referenced the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic for calling off that plan.

A camp in Europe next month will be the first time the USMNT has gathered since February. The team reportedly has a friendly lined up at Wales next month, which is expected to be announced soon.

The USMNT is trying to play host to a second game at the home of Premier League side Fulham FC, which plays at Craven Cottage. The London club, which returned to the Premier League this season after it was relegated in 2019-20, has two U.S. internationals on its squad in defenders Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson.
