BLUE MOUNTAINS, NSW, Australia – Search and rescue crews are continuing to comb the Metagong Valley in the Blue Mountains to locate two older men who have been missing since Wednesday.

The men had planned a two-day bushwalk from Dunphy’s campground in the Megalong Valley, commencing on Wednesday.

NSW Police were alerted on Sunday morning when the pair had not surfaced, and an extensive search was begun. It concluded after dark on Sunday but resumed at 7:00am on Monday morning.

While information has been provided to police that the men had later decided to extend their walk, police are continuing their search and are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen the pair since Friday.

Initially, the men were not fully named, with police referring to them by their first names only. However, late Monday afternoon, they were named as Alfred Zawadzki, aged 69, and Klaus Umland, aged 81.

Police earlier located a car belonging to the missing 81-year-old man in the car park of Dunphy’s campground.
