Second rescue in two days for air ambulance

Oct 3, 2018

SPRINGWOOD, Blue Mountains – It has been a busy time in the Blue Mountains for the Toll Ambulance Rescue helicopter.

After rescuing a 29-year old rock climber from the ACT on Sunday morning, the chopper was back in the air two days later, again winching a person to safety.

On Tuesday morning around 10:30am a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) was activated which the helicopter service and Blue Mountains Police Rescue responded to.

A 16-year old girl who was participating in a five-day hike had collapsed after suffering a seizure. A relative hiking with her activated the PLB.

The Ambulance rescue helicopter was quickly able to hone in to the PLB’s location and winch the girl to safety.

She was flown to Westmead Hospital to undergo further testing.
