Mar 20, 2019

BLAXLAND, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – The driver of a fully-laden semi trailer was caught for drink driving on Wednesday.

The semi trailer, which had been travelling from Condobolin and was heading to Flemington markets, was travelling along the Great Western Highway at Blaxland around 2:25am Wednesday morning when it was spotted by officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command.

The Police came up behind the semi trailer and established it was speeding while in the kerbside lane. As Police pulled alongside in lane two to stop it, the semi trailer veered into lane two causing the driver of the police vehicle to brake heavily to avoid a collision.

Police stopped the truck. A roadside breath test was positive and the driver was arrested.

At Springwood Police Station, the breath analysis returned a reading of 0.123.

In relation to his drinking, the driver indicated that he had a ‘big night’ the day before.

The driver, a 48-year-old man from Cowra in the Central West, was charged with driving with a mid-range PCA and his NSW Drivers Licence was automatically suspended.

The man was granted bail but scheduled to appear in Penrith Local Court later on Wednesday.
