Two arrests follow NSW Central West stabbing

BATHURST, Central West, NSW, Australia – A youth appeared before Bathurst Local Court on Tuesday charged with being an accessory to a grievous bodily harm offence.

The 20-year-old had turned himself in at Bathurst Police Station about 12:30pm on Monday. He was on bail so was also hit with a breach of bail charge and taken into custody.

The man is facing charges concerning an alleged stabbing in Bathurst on the weekend. Emergency services, including officers from the Chifley Police District, were alerted around 3:30pm on Sunday of an incident in Seymour Street, Bathurst. On arrival they found a 28-year-old man suffering with a stab wound to the chest.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being airlifted to Westmead Hospital in western Sydney where he remains in a stable condition.

The first arrest in relation to the incident came on Monday. The arrest was of a 13-year-old boy. He remains before the courts.

The arrest of the 20-year-old youth followed at about 12:30pm Monday.

Chifley Police District officers say the investigation is ongoing.
