Two men to appear in Bathurst court next week on multiple drug charges

LITHGOW, Central West, NSW, Australia – Two major arrests have been made in the past two days as part of Strike Force Resche, an ongoing investigation into a drug trafficking ring, involving mainly cocaine, operating between Sydney and Bathurst.

One of the two, a 23-year old man appeared in the Lithgow Local Court on Thursday, after his arrest a day earlier in Bathurst.

The man, pulled over by Strike Force Resche detectives about 11:15am on Wednesday was taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with 59 drug-related offences.

When he appeared in Lithgow Local Court on Thursday he was refused bail and ordered to re-present himself before the Bathurst Local Court next Wednesday, 4 August 2021.

In a further development, officers attached to the Murrumbidgee Criminal Investigation Unit arrested a 31-year-old man at Griffith about 4:00pm Thursday afternoon. He was taken to Griffith Police Station and charged with four counts.

He appeared at Griffith Local Court on Friday, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at Bathurst Local Court too next Wednesday 4 August 2021.

Officers from Chifley Police District established Strike Force Resche in late 2019 to investigate the criminal network trafficking cocaine from Sydney to the Bathurst area. To date, 25 people have been charged under Strike Force Resche.

Chifley Police detectives say investigations are continuing.
