Woman in Central West critically injured when struck by vehicle

CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car in the state’s Central West on Tuesday.

Officers from the Bathurst Crash Investigation Unit have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Shortly after midday Tuesday, emergency services were called to a car park at the rear of Orange Health Service on Forest Road, Orange, following reports a woman had been struck by a vehicle on a pedestrian footpath.

Officers from Central West Police District attended along with NSW Fire & Rescue and NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The 51-year-old woman was trapped under a Ford Territory for a short time, before being released by NSW Fire & Rescue and taken to Orange Health Service in a critical condition.

The driver of the Ford, a 60-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
