Young people wanted to help organise Lithgow Youth Awards

Sep 27, 2018

LITHGOW, Central West, NSW, Australia – Young people are kicking goals all over Lithgow. Whether it’s in community, sport, academia, music, art or drama – young people are aiming high, putting in the effort and achieving results.

And the Lithgow Council wants to formally recognise both effort and achievement through the Lithgow Youth Awards 2018.

As part of the Future Finders program, Council will be launching the awards, aimed at recognising the effort and achievements of young people within the Lithgow LGA. Some potential categories could include sporting, creative, innovative, or community involvement. However, none of these categories are set in concrete as Council is looking for young people to provide input.

“This won’t be a typical Council events. We are looking for young people to have their say to make it ‘hip’ ‘trendy’ and ‘fun’ –something they would want to attend and be a part of,” a statement from Council said.

“We’re looking for young people aged 15-25 years old to help with the organisation of the event, such as award categories, prizes, venue, food options and entertainment,” said Community Development Officer Kristy Lenon.

Anyone wanting to be a part of the Lithgow Youth Awards organising committee should contact Council’s Community Development Officer – Kristy Lenon on (02) 6354 9999 or kristy.lenon@lithgow.nsw.gov.au

Expressions of interest close on Monday October 8 2018.
