The death toll on Central West roads rose again on Friday.
It was the second deadly crash this week, after a man died in a collision with a truck on Tuesday night at Bilpin, near Lithgow.
In Friday’s incident a 64-year old man was killed when his Hyundai Elantra collided with a Ford Everest at the intersection of Lake Canobolas Road and Cargo Road, near Orange.
The man was trapped in the vehicle for a short period of time, before being freed by emergency services. He was taken to Orange Hospital where he later died.
The 40-year-old female driver of the Ford Everest was not injured during the incident. She returned a negative result to roadside breath test.
Officers from the Central West Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will now be prepared for the Coroner.
