Face masks, other restrictions might loosen soon, says Fauci

Apr 30, 2021

WASHINGTON D.C.: The mandatory use of face masks is being re-evaluated by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

According to Dr. Antony Fauci the new recommendations will be announced “soon.” Fauci is the chief White House medical advisor.

Altering the face mask restrictions would be a matter of “common sense,” as evidence shows that “outdoor risk is really, really quite low,” said Fauci, as reported by ABC News.

“I believe what the country is going to be hearing soon is updated guidelines from the CDC. The data backs it up,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the head of the CDC, said the agency is “looking at the outdoor masking question.”

Current CDC guidance urges all over age two to wear face masks when in “public settings and when around people who don’t live in their household.”
