CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – A person has died in a fiery crash in the state’s Central West.

Just before midnight on Sunday night a car travelling south on Canowindra Road, in Canowindra, midway between Orange and Cowra, left the road and struck a cement culvert, before running into a tree after which it exploded into flames.

Emergency services arrived soon after and the fire was extinguished.

The driver, who police say has not been identified, died at the scene.

Officers from Chifley Police District are investigating the crash.
