DUBLIN, Ireland: The Irish Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment has released figures showing that Indian nationals received 40 percent of all work permits nationwide in the first quarter of 2023.
Throughout Ireland during this period, 7,264 work permits were granted to foreign citizens, with 2,894 Indian nationals receiving work permits from the beginning of January to March 31.
Besides India, workers from Brazil and the Philippines received the second and third most work permits, with 734 and 663 permits issued in the first quarter of 2023.
Additionally, of the total 494 rejected applications, the largest number, at 113, were Indians, followed by Brazil at 80.
Those sectors seeing the highest number of visas were Health and Social Work (2,428), followed by Information and Communication (1,095).
Citizens of the EU, plus Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and the UK, do not need permits to work in Ireland.
