KATOOMBA, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia – An investigation is underway into Friday afternoon’s collision between two buses in the Blue Mountains.
The two buses were carrying a total of twenty-five passengers, 15 in one bus, and ten in the other.
The buses collided around 4:15pm late Friday afternoon on the Great Western Highway at Warrimoo.
7 children were taken by ambulances from the scene to local hospitals in the Blue Mountains.
All are believed to have suffered minor injuries.
Five of the 7 children injured were taken to Nepean Hospital, while two were admitted to Westmead Children’s Hospital.
The driver of one of the buses was taken to Nepean Hospital with a suspected fractured shoulder.
The Great Western Highway was closed in both directions with diversions put in place before reopening some hours later.
“Officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash,” a statement issued by NSW Police late Friday said.
