VICTORIA, Australia – An Irish teen was killed in a horrific car crash in Australia, and two of his friends are fighting for their lives in hospital.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, the 18-year-old was thrown from a car in Cobden, about three hours from the Victorian capital, Melbourne.
The teenager was killed when his vehicle and another vehicle collided shortly before 1.30 a.m. at the intersection of Bond Street and Cross Forest Road in Cobden, near Warrnambool.
He was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.
His two friends, both Irish and aged 30 and 21, who were in the same car, were seriously injured.
They were moved to Warnambool Hospital, where their condition is said to be critical.
As a precaution, the female driver of the second car was also taken to the hospital.
Detectives from the major crash investigations unit will continue to investigate what caused the collision.
Several people expressed their condolences to the teen’s family and wished the injured a speedy recovery on social media.
