English county side Leicestershire have signed Proteas batsman Janneman Malan as their overseas player for the upcoming season.
The 23-year-old made his mark on the international stage this week with a superb 129 from 139 balls in the Proteas ODI victory against Australia – only his second ODI after making a duck in his first.
Malan boasts an impressive first-class record, averaging over 50 in that form of the game, and has also played two T20Is for his country.
The Cape Cobras batsman will feature for the Foxes in both white-ball competitions and is available for three County Championship fixtures, subject to international selection.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Foxes for the upcoming season,” Malan told the club’s website.
“Playing county cricket has always been a dream and to get the opportunity after a strong season in South Africa is very exciting.
“I am looking forward to working with Paul Nixon who is busy getting the boys prepared for pre-season and I will be following their progress closely from afar.”
