CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – A school teacher appeared in a Central West court on Wednesday charged with grooming one of his students for sex.

The 32-year old man is alleged to have sent one of his students, a 14-year old boy, inappropriate messages and images through social media.

Detectives have charged the teacher for alleged sexual grooming.

Detectives from Orana Mid-Western Police District commenced an investigation two weeks ago, following reports a 14-year-old boy had received sexually inappropriate messages and images from a man through social media.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested the 32-year-old teacher at a home in the state’s Central Tablelands just before 1:00pm last Tuesday, 10 December 2019.

He was taken to a local police station, where he was charged with ‘groom child for unlawful sexual activity.’

Police alleged in court that the man, who was one of the boy’s teachers, sent him inappropriate messages through a social media application.

The man was granted strict conditional bail ahead of his appearance at Mudgee Local Court on Wednesday.
