CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – A 31-year old man who was chased by police across the New South Wales Central West on Thursday night, has never held a driver’s license.

To add to his woes the car he was driving was stolen.

The man appeared in court on Friday on a string of charges.

The drama began around 9:45pm Thursday night when officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District in Wellington spotted a blue Mazda 6 sedan which had been reported stolen. On seeing the police car, the driver of the Mazda accelerated towards the Mitchell Highway heading towards Dubbo.

Officers lost sight of the vehicle and commenced patrols of the Mitchell Highway where they came across the vehicle again on Deep Creek Road, near Geurie.

A pursuit was initiated on Red Hill Road heading towards Wongarbon and back onto the Mitchell Highway where it was pursued throughout several streets in Dubbo.

The vehicle finally came to a stop in Lunar Avenue, Dubbo, and the driver was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station.

The man was refused bail by police ahead of his appearance Friday at Dubbo Local Court, where he was again remanded in custody to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday 8 July 2020.
