NAPLES, Florida: NASA said that it was investigating an object that crashed into the roof of a home in southwest Florida last month, which could be from the International Space Station (ISS).

NASA spokesman Josh Finch said this week that the agency’s staff collected the object from homeowner Alejandro Otero in Naples, Florida, last week and took it to the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, where it is being analyzed to determine its origin.

“More information will be available once the analysis is complete,” Finch said.

The object hit the roof of Otero’s home on March 8.

In an interview with television station WINK, Otero said his son told him about the cylindrical-shaped crashing object, which weighed nearly two pounds (0.91 kilograms), while he was on vacation.

He added that the object ripped through his ceiling and tore up the flooring.

“I was shaking. I was completely in disbelief. What are the chances of something landing on my house with such force to cause so much damage. I am super grateful that nobody got hurt,” Otero said.
