MEXICO CITY, Mexico – The outgoing Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto raked up a controversy in the country after blaming the surging violent crime in the country on the country’s law enforcement body.
Citing the rising crime rates, Nieto blamed the inability of state and local police to handle the smaller gangs.
He pointed out that the smaller gangs that emerged after the main cartel leaders were captured have continued to add to the high crime rates, but that the police have failed to bring them under control.
