CANBERRA, Australia – Australia’s airline Qantas has been named the world’s safest airline in the AirlineRatings.com’s awards for 2019 on Thursday. AirlineRatings.com, which is the only safety and product rating website in the world, selected Qantas as the top airline among the 405 it monitors.
According to AirlineRatings.com’s editor-in-chief Geoffrey Thomas, Qantas was selected for the top position because of its leadership and extraordinary safety record.
The airline has been at the forefront of innovation with technologies like Future Air Navigation System. It has also developed the flight data recorder used to monitor the performance of the plane and the crew. The airline also makes use of satellite communication to keep an eye on its fleet’s engines in real-time to allow the carrier to detect any problem before it escalates.
Other airlines in the top 20 positions include Air New Zealand, Cathay Pacific Airways, British Airways, Virgin Australia, Qatar Airways, etc. The ratings are done using a seven-star rating system and all the top 20 airlines got the full 7 stars. Jetstar Airline was in the top-low cost airlines for safety.
According to Mr. Thomas, the top 20 airlines are at the forefront of innovation, safety, as well as the launching of new aircraft.
