CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – The city of Orange in the New South Wales Central West has become a dangerous place to live with a number of violent crimes having occurred in the past 10 days.
The latest incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning.
Around 2:30am Monday, a taxi driver picked up a man from Coulson Place, Orange who requested to be taken to Glenroi.
The passenger asked the driver to stop near Orchard Grove Road and demanded cash from him. The driver got out of the taxi and was confronted by the passenger who threatened him with a large carving knife and continued to demand cash.
The taxi driver sounded an alarm and the man fled the scene on foot. He was last seen running across empty lots in a southern direction towards Sir Neville Howse Place.
The alleged attacker has been described as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance, with a dark complexion, about 20 years old, slim build, no facial hair, and was last seen wearing a dark coloured hooded jumper and dark pants.
