Semi-trailer driver killed in traffic incident on Mid Western Highway

CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – A fatal truck crash took place on Saturday morning in the state’s Central West.

The crash occurred around 4:40am on Saturday morning on the Mid Western Highway, about 20km west of West Wyalong.

Emergency services were called to the scene after a semi-trailer left the highway and struck a guard rail, before crashing into a dry creek bed.

The driver, a man aged 43 was killed instantly.

Police are investigating the crash and will prepare a report for the Coroner.

It was the second fatal crash to occur on New South Wales roads in the space of three days

On Wednesday a car and a truck collided on the Great Western Highway at Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains, causing the highway to be closed in both directions for several hours.

That collision occurred just after 2:00am Wednesday near Pritchard Street, Wentworth Falls. The driver of the car, the only occupant, was killed in the crash. The truck driver was uninjured but was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
