Several Lithgow roads to be upgraded

Aug 31, 2018

Major works on roads will be undertaken in the City of Lithgow Local Government Area during September, the Council announced on Friday.

A number of roads will be re-sealed or restored in the process.

Works will commence on the bitumen reseal of four rural roads as part of the program.

The works are being carried out under the council’s 2018/19 capital works program.

A number of roads in the area have been identified as requiring remedial work.

As part of this program, roads subject to reconstruction in September are:

Bitumen Reseals:

– Burnett Street, Wallerawang;

– Elizabeth Street, Wallerawang;

– James Parade Lane, Wallerawang;

– Bathurst Street, Wallerawang;

– Sawyers Road, Lidsdale;

– Neubeck Street, Lidsdale; and

– Skelly Road, Lidsdale

A Council statement says, “these roads require immediate restoration in order to ensure the safety of road users and better serve the community. As such, within the month of September crews and machinery will be on site to remediate and seal sections of these roads, weather permitting.”

“Works will include the removal of the existing seal, rehabilitation and reconstruction of the underlying pavement and reseal of the affected areas. It is expected that the scheduled improvements will serve to increase both driver safety and comfort and greatly reduce maintenance expenditure in these areas,” the Council statement released on Friday said.

“Residents are urged to note that traffic conditions may change in these areas. Please exhibit caution and patience while travelling through the area,” said the local Council.
