Survey: Biden approval at 39 percent, economy #1 concern of voters

Oct 28, 2022

NEW YORK CITY, New York: President Joe Biden’s approval rating has dropped to 39 percent, edging closer to the lowest level in his presidency only two weeks before the U.S. midterm elections.

According to the two-day Reuters national poll, Biden’s unpopularity could mean that Republicans win control of both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate on 8th November.

Biden’s legislative agenda could grind to a halt if the Republicans win even one chamber of Congress.

After taking office during the COVID-19 pandemic in January 2021, Biden’s term has suffered from the economic effects of the global health crisis, including surging inflation.

In May and June this year, his approval rating drifted to as low as 36 percent.

In the poll, one-third of respondents said the economy is the country’s largest problem, a significantly higher proportion than the one-in-10 who pointed to crime, while only one-in-20 mentioned the end of national abortion rights.

Conducted online in English throughout the country, the poll surveyed 1,005 adults, including 447 Democrats and 369 Republicans.
