Suspicious items found inside Trump Tower in Manhattan

Jul 29, 2018

NEW YORK, U.S. – After being alerted about “multiple suspicious items” found inside the U.S. President Donald Trump’s New York City skyscraper, the New York Police Department descended on the Trump Tower to investigate.

The New York Police Department said that they had received a report about suspicious items inside the Trump Tower at about 4.30 pm.

As police forces evacuated the 58-story, 664-foot-high Midtown Manhattan skyscraper, emergency vehicles and the bomb squad arrived in the area, which was then cordoned off, along with roads surrounding the building.

Officials said that they partially shut down traffic in the area of the Fifth Avenue building, which houses the Trump Organization.

Following an inspection by officials and sniffer dogs, NYPD officer and department spokesman George Tsourovakas issued a statement saying the building had been cleared by 7.15 pm.

Tsourovakas said, “The suspicious items have been deemed safe by the NYPD Bomb Squad.”

However, he refused to reveal any details about the ‘suspicious items’ found inside.

The police spokesperson has also refused to divulge where the items were left in the building.

However, on Saturday, a report in The New York Post stated that several bags containing cell phones and an unknown device were found on the building’s second floor.

The report also said that four portable batteries were found in the lobby of Trump Tower.

It noted that a custodian who discovered the devices called 911.

Later, the NYPD revealed that sniffer dogs had failed to detect any explosives and the situation has been resolved.

Trump and First Lady Melanie were at the President’s golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey when the incident took place.

Meanwhile, the incident took place a day after Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, made the bombshell revelation that the President was aware of plans related to the controversial meeting his son Donald Trump Jr., held with several Russians at Trump Tower in 2016.

In a shocking break from Trump, Cohen also indicated that he was willing to tell investigators all the details of how the president was in the know about the controversial meeting during which Russians had promised to provide dirt on Trump’s Presidential election rival, Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton.
